Recognize a lift followed by a transfer onto the hip.

How it works

Position and connection

In this example, attacks with left . lowers the hips and wraps Uke’s waist with the right arm to stop the entry.

Direction and completion

Tori lifts with close body contact, then turns the right hip under Uke and guides Uke forward over it. Mirror for the opposite attack. is because the hip transfer completes the throw. Keep Uke supported through the change; do not release a lifted partner or drop Uke onto the head.
