Understand the technique

The outer turn in stays connected through Uke’s arm as Tori continues into a side sacrifice.

How it works

Connect the arm while turning

In the right example, keep Uke’s right arm close beneath Tori’s right armpit and place Tori’s right leg outside Uke’s right leg.

Preserve the falling space

Continue the winding action into a controlled side sacrifice. Mirror on the left. Avoid landing heavily across Uke’s chest or shoulder and never dive head-first.

Common mistakes

Losing the arm connection

If the arm separates during the turn, Tori’s fall no longer guides Uke through the same winding path.

First learning focus

Follow the arm connection from entry through the outer winding turn.
