For the example, sweeps toward right foot. If Tori can still unweight that foot and keep the torso balanced, a return sweep is available. If the foot is already displaced and the body is falling, that window has closed. Tori follows instead of reaching a straight arm toward the mat or twisting a trapped leg. Mirror the example on the other side. A counter is a response from available control, not a promise to reverse every attack.
