The Nage-no-kata Map

Nage-no-kata has five groups of three techniques, demonstrated on both sides. The order is: Te-waza: Uki-otoshi, Seoi-nage (using the Ippon-seoi-nage action), Kata-guruma. Koshi-waza: Uki-goshi, Harai-goshi, Tsuri-komi-goshi. Ashi-waza: Okuri-ashi-barai, Sasae-tsuri-komi-ashi, Uchi-mata. Ma-sutemi-waza: Tomoe-nage, Ura-nage, Sumi-gaeshi. Yoko-sutemi-waza: Yoko-gake, Yoko-guruma, Uki-waza. Tori and Uke use prescribed attacks and responses to reveal principles. Remembering the order is only one part of understanding the form.
